About

JLK is collaborating with TranSystems and Skidmore, Owings, and Merrill (SOM) to provide Section 106 Consultation services and Phase I and II Transportation Architecture and Historic Preservation design services for redevelopment of the State/Lake Elevation Station, one of the city’s most-utilized stations.

Secretary of the Interior (SOI) qualified Architectural Historians at JLK coordinated with the State Historic Preservation Office, the Chicago Transit Authority, and all consulting parties to conduct Section 106 consultation. JLK delineated an Area of Potential Effects (APE) for the project, identified and evaluated historic properties within the APE, and assessed effects to historic properties resulting from the project. JLK prepared a technical report documenting the consultation process. JLK also supported preparation of other NEPA and Section 4(f) compliance documentation.

JLK provided design services during Phases I and II including early project visioning, plan and specifications development, cost estimating through issue for construction, code analysis and documentation, and building permit coordination.
