Division Street Bridges
Architectural design for two new bridges along a significant Chicago transportation corridor.
JLK provided Transportation Architecture design services for two new bridges along Division Street over the North Branch of the Chicago River and over the North Branch Canal. The new bridges are tied-arch structures that are able to lift vertically and provide a 40-foot-high navigation clearance. Transportation architects at JLK collaborated closely with engineers at Lochner and HNTB to develop and design architectural cowling, railings, and lighting designs for both bridges. This included uplighting on each bridges arches, illuminated railings, and cowling lighting. JLK also coordinated presentations to the City of Chicago and Illinois Departments of Transportation and developed high quality renderings of the final designs for both bridges.
